Overview

The State Code of Florida requires that all municipalities and counties within the state enforce the most current (7th edition, 2020, effective 12/31/2020) Florida Building Code, including Building, Residential and Existing Building Codes and appendices, at a minimum. Lake County, FL, further amended the state code with additional, more stringent, provisions. Lake County, FL, Muni. Code § 6-22 (adoption and amendments). 

Lake County, Florida, adopted the FBC, Building, including Appendices B, C, E, and I.  Florida Building Code, Existing Building, 8th Edition (2023). Note that the 8th Edition (2023 FBC, is based on the 2021 ICC Codes) Florida Building Code goes into effect December 31, 2023. 

Lake County, Florida, adopted the FBC, Residential, including Appendices A, B, C, E, F, G, H, K, M, N, O, P, Q, T, and U, with amendments. Ice barriers are not required. Florida Building Code 6th Edition – Residential Table R301.2(1). As noted in the Roofing section, secondary water barriers are required according to code. Fla. Stat. Ann. § 553.844.
